Italy 1-1 England (Italy Won 3-2 on Penalties)
Readers of the blog, where shall we begin, what a night it was last night in terms of the anticipation and excitement of the game which was England's first final in fifty five years, it was a perfect start for the team when Luke Shaw slotted home a cross from Kieran Trippier in the second minute, Italy didn't panic and continued to play their game calmly, they knew they had plenty of time to make it 1-1. England looked like they had reverted back to the old tactic, if you can call it that, of scoring early and sitting back, you cannot do that against Italy, who controlled the game and deserved the equaliser in the second half after Leonardo Bonucci tapped in the ball after it hit the post from a save from Jordan Pickford, extra time was tense, however, both teams failed to find a winner. 

Questions now have to be asked of Gareth Southgate in terms of substitutions, why did he wait so long to make them, he bought on Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford so late on in the game, why didn't he bring them on sixty minutes, why didn't he bring them on at the start of extra time so they are settled in the game, will he be asked these questions? of course not, also, the substitutions were so reminiscent of Manchester United's Europa League final vs. Villarreal.

Italy won the penalty shootout as we know, players can miss penalties, it happens in football, but for people to go online and racially abuse Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka for that is absolutely disgusting,  social media is such a vile place. 

Congratulations to Italy on winning Euro 2020, they were the best team in tournament and have been rewarded for their efforts. Roberto Mancini's side are one of the favourites for the World Cup in Qatar next year. They are now thirty four games unbeaten, an incredible record.
